The vast majority of British bars in La Manga are not actually located on the ‘Strip' but rather in the towns and residential areas along the northern shores of Mar Menor, and in particular in the town of Los Alcázares. With its location near Murcia-San Javier Airport, Los Alcázares is a convenient and popular holiday destination that receives its fair share of British and Irish visitors each year who can enjoy a taste of home in a selection of themed pubs.
Underground Bar – Located on Calle Fuster in Los Alcázares, this British themed bar is run by a friendly Spanish couple and features a large mural of a London underground tube station and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. They boast a good selection of local and imported drinks and, when they're not playing the latest tunes, screen popular football matches.
The Arches Cafe Bar – Also in Los Alcázares on Av. Justo Quesada, this is the place for a great range of full English breakfasts to suit all appetites as well as a vegetarian option. Another British favourite is their beef & ale pie, and to wash it down there is a good beverage choice. If you fancy a bit of a sing song head to the Arches on a Tuesday night for their karaoke.
Pasty Shack – Located on Av. Río Nalón which is the most popular place to enjoy British bars in La Manga, many holidaymakers visit the Pasty Shack year after year, especially on Sundays for their legendary lunchtime roasts. Due to its popularity you should arrive early for the Sunday roast or be prepared for a lengthy wait in the queue. Hearty breakfasts are also on the menu, as are a delicious selection of homemade cakes and desserts.
Penny Farthing – A popular venue for its good value full English breakfast and other pub style meals, Penny Farthing is located in the Los Alcázares Commercial Centre on Av. Río Nalón and also offer a good selection of filling sandwiches and baguettes as well as grilled steaks and fish all served with a friendly smile and great drinks selection.
The Celt Irish Bar – Ok, not British but worth a mention as it's run by Londoners and has a large and faithful following of English and Irish customers, mainly there for the football matches which can be a bit noisy. Located on Av. Río Nalón, The Celt is surprisingly popular for its good value Indian menu which is a novel Idea for an Irish bar!
