Dining out is one of the great pleasures of any holiday, and a favourite for many are the delightful seafood restaurants in La Manga. The narrow channels at the northern tip of the La Manga Strip have long been used by fishermen to navigate from the Mar Menor into the deeper waters of the Mediterranean, where they can bring in a bounty of different fish species on a good day which go strait to the fish markets to be snapped up by eager restaurant owners and onto customers plates within a matter of hours, ensuring only the freshest fish and seafood.
The entire stretch of La Manga, from the northern tip where you will find the upmarket and very stylish Collados Beach Restaurant, to the bustling port area of Cabo de Palos is lined with restaurants, and if that's not enough, visitors have the entire coastline of the Mar Menor to explore for culinary delights, not forgetting the excellent restaurants at the La Manga Club. Among this vast choice of eateries are a number of superb seafood restaurants in La Manga.
Escuela de Pieter – Located in the northernmost residential area of Veneziola, this is one of the most popular seafood restaurants in La Manga that receives rave reviews. The stunning beach front setting makes for a wonderful dining experience where visitors can enjoy a great variety of fish and seafood dishes, fish of the day, decadent seafood platters and a good selection of salads, meats and desserts, all washed down with a chilled bottle of local white wine.
Bonobo La Manga – This is on the Mediterranean side of the ‘Strip' near the southern side of the bridge that separates La Manga from Cabo de Palos and is a favourite with local and visiting Spanish where the tables fill up quickly and the BBQ mixed grill is not to be missed. Also recommended are the tiger mussels and wonderful Bonobo salad. For a variety of traditional light bites there is also Bonobo Tapas located on the northern side of the bridge.
Castillo de Proa – Centrally located in the popular Las Graviotas residential area, this is the place to try a traditional seafood paella, seafood soup and an excellent menu del dia. Steaks are also recommended, and the service is fast and friendly but will test your Spanish language 🙂
