With ‘The Strip' being on the Costa Calida which is a lot more traditional than the tourist magnets of Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, there is a great choice of Spanish restaurants in La Manga where visitors can try a superb variety of local dishes and wines of the region. For some holidaymakers tapas and paella is about as Spanish as it gets, but there is an overwhelming variety of delicious Spanish dishes just waiting to be discovered, many using age old recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation.
La Familia – Emphasising what I have just mentioned above, this is one of La Manga's longest standing restaurants where the owner Juan makes everyone feel like family. Although Spanish, the star of the show here is their homemade pizzas with that typical misshaped crust and fresh herbs that keep holidaymakers coming back year after year, always to a warm welcome.
El Parador del Mar Menor – If love is in the air and you're looking for a romantic place to dine, the decor and delightful beachfront terrace at El Parador is perfect, especially as the sun is setting. Located on the Mar Menor side at the beginning of the La Manga Strip, the restaurant serves a good variety of Spanish and international dishes, great steaks and fish, and a rather good gin & tonic. It's an upmarket venue that is a popular setting for wedding receptions.
Collados Beach – Another of the Spanish restaurants in La Manga that are more upmarket but well worth the expense, Collados enjoys a fantastic beachfront setting right on the tip of the ‘Strip' where the popular tourist attraction of Puente de la Risa is located. The sophisticated menu is delightful and expertly presented, and the building modern and stylish with a lovely outdoor terrace and swimming pool which can be used for a fee if you're not dining.
Restaurante Luna – With a superb setting in the Tomás Maestre Marina, Restaurante Luna constantly receives good reviews and boasts a reasonably priced lunch and dinner menu. If you are not sure what to choose then try a selection of their traditional tapas, but the squid and octopus dishes are particularly good and, for a meaty treat their rack of saucy ribs delicious.
