Murcia-San Javier Airport

The majority of visitors to La Manga arriving by air will fly into Murcia-San Javier Airport as it is less than 30 minutes drive. Having said that, the airport is the smaller of the two that service the Costa Blanca, the other being Alicante International Airport so depending on where you're flying from in Europe or Britain there may be limited or no flights to Murcia-San Javier Airport which means a longer journey by road to reach La Manga. If you are relying on taxi transport it is worth bearing in mind that even if you may find a much cheaper flight into Alicante, any money you think you have saved will be eaten up by the much longer taxi journey.

Murcia-San Javier Airport Services

Being a rather small airport, upon arrival visitors are immediately treated to their first feel of the wonderful balmy Mediterranean weather during the short walk from the plane to the terminal building. Passport control is usually a mere formality and from stepping off the plane to walking out the terminal doors takes less than 20 minutes where you are greeted by a delightful little outdoor bar and ice cold Spanish beer!

The efficient and laid back services at Murcia-San Javier Airport continues with its car parking which is just outside the terminal doors and extremely inexpensive when compared to some European and British airports. When driving into the airport those that are just picking up or dropping off passengers needn't take a ticket at the boom gate as long as they don't leave their vehicle. Those unsure how long they will be waiting must take a ticket and when leaving pay at the machines outside the terminal building. Unfortunately the airport is not serviced by any local buses so passengers without access to a vehicle will need to use a taxi or hire car.

Murcia-San Javier Airport Facilities

The airport building is bright and modern with wheelchair access throughout, comfortable seating areas and ample clean ablutions. The layout of the public zone is simple and efficient with an information desk, several international car hire companies and the spacious Serunion Restaurant that serves a good selection of snacks and drinks and also operates the outdoor bar. The airport terminal has a taxi rank for the Santiago de la Ribera Taxi Company which they recommend passengers use as these are monitored and should there be any problems or left luggage or personal items, this can be more easily sorted out. Average price to La Manga is 70€

Once through passport control passengers will find a further Serunion Restaurant, Subway takeaway and Ibérica Gourmet Shop which boasts a bar, sandwiches and snacks and a superb selection of Spanish delicacies to take home such as wines, cured meats and olive oils. There is also a small duty free shop and Shoes Marga boutique that also offers handbags and purses.
